Period in the lab:
Role in the lab:
2018-07 to 2022-10
Postdoctoral Fellow
Research Fellow
Griffith University (Australia)
Lukas did his PhD studies at Griffith University, Australia, where he developed machine-learning methods to predict stability and functional changes caused by genomic variants. He continued his training as a postdoctoral fellow at ETH Zurich, Switzerland, in the Machine Learning & Computational Biology Lab. In 2018, he joined the Bock Lab to develop machine-learning methods applicable to single-cell RNA-seq data analysis, for which he received the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions postdoctoral fellowship. While at the Bock Lab, he further contributed to projects studying epigenetic-immunological interplay and developed graph neural networks approaches for virtual screening of small molecules. In November 2022, Lukas moved (back) to Griffith University, Australia, to devote his efforts to developing a deep learning approach to monitor marine wildlife.
